Activities to boost your wellbeing in Courchevel

With so many of us putting a greater focus on health & wellbeing, it’s hardly surprising that that desire to make more positive choices spans from our everyday lives, to our leisure and holiday time. From yoga retreats and wellness breaks, to simply choosing to get out in nature, holidays that boost physical and mental wellbeing are on the rise.

Thankfully for us, nestled in the mountains, with stunning mountain vistas as far as the eye can see, Courchevel offers the perfect setting to get away from it all, and enjoy a slower pace of life. So, whether you’re a skier looking for a little more from your holiday, or you’re a non-skier looking for ways to nourish yourself during your stay, in our latest blog we share some of our favourite ways to relax, recover in our mountain playground. Including a whole host of activities that will help boost your physical and mental wellbeing in Courchevel.

Skiing or snowboarding

As one of the world’s premier resorts, it would be remiss of us not to start with one of our favourite pastimes - skiing and snowboarding. There’s nothing quite like that feeling of having the sun on your face and the wind in your hair, surrounded by stunning scenery as you get that adrenaline rush that comes from doing something you love. It’s also an excellent workout for the entire body, working your cardiovascular system (for healthy lungs and heart), improving endurance, and increasing strength in the legs, core, and back muscles.

Enjoy a relaxing spa afternoon

If you’re looking for something a little more relaxing, or for something to do on a day off, Courchevel’s aqua centre, Aquamotion, has a lovely spa and wellbeing area.. Encompassing two saunas, three steam rooms, a cold plunge pool, warm indoor and outdoor pool as well as a salt cave, it’s the perfect anecdote to our often hectic lives. If you want to work up a sweat there’s also an onsite gym. Or, if you want to treat yourself, you can book a range of massage and beauty treatments. Or, for the ultimate convenience, why not book a massage in the comfort of your chalet

Explore the outdoors on a guided snowshoe hike

Get off the beaten track and enjoy the fresh mountain air with a guided snowshoe trek. There are countless paths to explore in Courchevel, with some of the best only minutes from Chalet Celeste. Walk through pine forests and snow-covered meadows, past hamlets, rivers and waterfalls. Or take in the stunning lake and surrounding forests of Courchevel’s lac de la Rosiere. Your guide will be able to show you the best sites and point out flora and fauna along the way.

Take to skinny skis to get your heart pumping

When most people think of skiing, Alpine or downhill skiing is naturally your first thought. But whether nerves or an injury mean that skiing isn’t your thing, or you’d like to try something different, cross-country skiing is a great way to get your blood pumping. It also allows you to get away from the busyness of the slopes, enjoy the stunning scenery Courchevel has on offer, and can be a lot of fun!

Courchevel has almost 70kms of pisted cross-country tracks, including a beginner route past the lake in Le Praz, and intermediate and advanced trails which take you through the nearby forests. Other good options include an intermediate track which takes in woods and a snow-covered pasture up in Belvedere, above Courchevel Moriond (1650), or an intermediate route through the forest from La Tania to Méribel Village.

You can rent cross-country equipment from most of the hire shops in resort, including Gormier Sports in Le Praz. You’ll just need to decide if you want to try classic (where you stay in the tracks), or skating (which, as the name suggests requires you to skate, on the groomed path beside the tracks. The latter is generally accepted to be the more physical and challenging of the two.

Boost your health from within with a private chef

Holistic health starts from within. So, if you want to boost your overall health and wellbeing, book yourselves a private chef who can cook nourishing meals, while also easing the load during your well-earned break. Most chefs will happily cater to your requirements and can either suggest a suitable menu, or can cook your favourite dishes on request. And they’ll not only be able to prepare you delicious healthy fayre, but they’ll also do all the shopping and tidying up afterwards - leaving you to relax in front of the fire after a long day in the mountains.

Build strength, flexibility and balance with a private yoga or pilates session

Whether you want to work on core strength, flexibility, mind and body alignment, or a combination of all three, yoga and pilates are great for physical and mental wellbeing. And here in Courchevel you can organise to have your own private instructor come to you, so you can limber up in the comfort of your chalet.

So there you have it, a list of our favourite ways to boost our physical and mental wellbeing in Courchevel. And do get in touch if you’d like any recommendations for any of the activities listed and we’ll be happy to provide a list of recommended providers.
